WBAIS and Israel Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 1958, the Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS) is an MSA-accredited, fully independent, co-educational Pre-K-12 international school that offers a robust program leading to a US high school diploma. With a present enrollment of approximately 650 students representing over 40 nationalities, WBAIS Israel is a diverse and vibrant community. Approximately 30% of WBAIS students are American, 40% from countries all over the world, and 30% Israeli. In 2008, WBAIS moved to its current 19-acre campus in the town of Even Yehuda, a residential community approximately 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv. The purpose-built campus includes four separate divisions, a performing arts building with a 400-seat auditorium, full gym, cafeteria, library and media center, athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, and an olympic-sized pool. Job Description WBAIS is seeking a positive, compassionate, patient, and dedicated Learning Facilitator to provide full-time support for a student. The facilitator will work closely with the classroom teacher and Student Support Team, and the Student Support Coordinator to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support throughout the school day. Main Responsibilities Provide tailored, individualized support to assist with differentiated instruction, helping to meet the student’s academic needs, facilitate smooth transitions, promote task completion, and maintain focus and engagement throughout the school day. Essential Duties And Responsibilities * Works directly with a specific student to support engagement in grade-level curriculum; * Partners with teachers to provide scaffolding and academic differentiation to target the students’ academic needs and abilities and scaffold class materials; * Works closely in a classroom environment with all other students to positively motivate, support, and encourage engagement; * Supports continued learning through receiving feedback from and making necessary adjustments to the support when working in collaboration with the classroom teacher, Student Support Team, Student Support Team Coordinator, and outside professionals as needed; * Provides updates, documentation, and communication between the school and home on a weekly basis; * Balances needed support with executive functioning skills and independence. * Works closely with the counselor, principal, and student support team; * Provides and supports continued social-emotional skill development; * Creates positive motivational strategies and academic tools as needed to support his/her specific student; * Provides movement breaks and positive reinforcement as needed. * Assist other teachers in environmental modifications for increased success * Provide consultation and support to administrators and teachers in supporting emotional or behavioral challenges * Implement the school’s mission statement * Effectively model and encourage multicultural awareness, tolerance, and understanding * Support class and school-wide learning, duties, and student activities * Engage in training related to this role and staff development * Work in coordination with the elementary principal at WBAIS Qualifications * Experience supporting Special Education Students * Experience in working with students in grades 2-5 * Experience and proven initiative in providing in-class support and differentiation of curriculum materials * Experience in Co-planning and teaching * Extensive technology skills * Strong oral and written communication skills in English * Track record of a positive attitude and healthy influence on the school community and culture * Outstanding collaborative skills and a desire to work in a team-focused environment Preferences * Bachelor’s Degree * Certification in Special Education * International school experience * Expertise working with a broad range of students (EAL, learning challenges, gifted) * Wilson Reading Training * Orton Gillingham Training Child Protection WBAIS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
